Story

Botanicula opens with an animated sequence that establishes its premise: a monstrous, dark spider is consuming the enchanted trees. Five unlikely heroes set out on a quest to save the last Elven Tree. This quirky band consists of Poppy Head, Mr. Feather, Miss Mushroom, Mr. Twig, and Mr. Lantern.

Each companion has a distinct talent: Poppy Head is strong and can smash hard objects; Mr. Feather can fly to reach high places; Miss Mushroom has a bouncy, resilient body; Mr. Twig defies gravity to walk on walls; and Mr. Lantern can conceal items within his belly. While this may sound like a typical hero's journey, these five are far from conventional. They act more like a rowdy band of misfits—cheering over small victories, squabbling among themselves, and trembling when confronted by creatures much larger and scarier than they are.

Although the five warriors are central characters, most puzzles are solved not by them directly, but through interactions with the countless strange and wonderful creatures inhabiting the tree. A smart player will take time to "dally" with each being, even if they seem unrelated to any immediate puzzle. Doing so reveals their unique lives and adds them to your collection.
