2025 Alienware Aurora 16, 16X Laptops Now Available

Authore: RyanUpdate:May 25,2025

Earlier this month, Alienware unveiled its exciting new lineup of 2025 gaming laptops, the "Alienware Aurora" series. The first 16-inch models are now available for purchase at Dell, offering gamers a blend of performance and affordability. The Alienware Aurora 16, starting at $1,949.99, comes equipped with an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 i9-270H CPU and a GeForce RTX 4050 GPU with an 85W TGP. On the other hand, the higher-end Alienware Aurora 16X, priced at $2,299.99, features an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU and a GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with a 115W TGP. Both models are set to begin shipping in mid-June. Additionally, both laptops offer the option to be upgraded with RTX 5060 graphics, although these are currently available for pre-order with no specific shipping date, as the RTX 5060 has yet to be released.

The new Alienware Aurora laptops break away from the typical gamer-centric design seen in other Alienware models, such as the recently launched Area-51. These laptops boast a sleek, minimalistic profile that resembles standard laptops, complete with a thin design and the absence of excessive RGB lighting. The Aurora 16, in particular, features only white keyboard illumination, reminiscent of Apple MacBooks. However, beneath their unassuming exteriors, these laptops are packed with robust gaming components and a Cryo Chamber dual fan and copper heatpipe cooling system. The Aurora 16 is slightly thinner and lighter due to its more efficient components, like the low-voltage Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU and the RTX 5070 GPU with an 85W TGP. The Aurora 16X, on the other hand, is slightly thicker and heavier to accommodate a more powerful Intel Core Ultra 9 HX series processor and an RTX 5070 GPU with a higher 115W TGP rating.

These laptops are notably more affordable than the new Alienware Area-51, which starts at over $3,000. They are also more travel-friendly, being up to 1.6 pounds lighter and 30% thinner than a similarly sized Area-51 16-inch laptop. Given the current trends in Nvidia GPU pricing, as reported by Tom's Hardware, significant price drops are not expected in the near future.

Gamers should go with the Alienware Aurora 16X model

For gamers seeking a powerful mobile desktop replacement, the Alienware Aurora 16X is the clear choice. The additional $300 investment yields a significantly enhanced gaming experience, thanks to the following upgrades:

  • Better display (2560x1600 240Hz G-Sync vs 2560x1600 120Hz)
  • More powerful CPU (Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX vs Intel Core 9 270H)
  • Higher TGP rating for RTX 5070 (115W TGP vs 85W TGP)
  • Double the RAM (64GB vs 32GB)
  • Double the storage (2TB vs 1TB)
  • Better material (metal top and bottom vs metal top only)
  • RGB keyboard
  • Thunderbolt 4.0
