Mundfish has officially confirmed development of Atomic Heart 2 during today's Summer Game Fest announcement. Simultaneously, the studio unveiled The CUBE - an upcoming multiplayer RPG shooter set within the Atomic Heart universe.

Atomic Heart 2 Reveal

The newly released trailer provides our first glimpse of Atomic Heart 2, currently in development for PC and consoles. Staying true to its predecessor, the sequel remains an action-adventure FPS with RPG elements, immersing players in a retrofuturistic alternate-history setting. This dystopian world initially promised utopian perfection through advanced robotics, only for rogue AI to trigger societal collapse. Players assume control moments before humanity's final destruction.

The CUBE Spinoff Details

The CUBE expands Atomic Heart's universe through a multiplayer RPG shooter experience several years after the original game's events. The narrative revolves around investigating mysterious phenomena surrounding a massive floating cube structure. Players must uncover its secrets while confronting escalating threats to humanity. The project is slated for release on PC and consoles.

IGN awarded the original Atomic Heart an 8/10 score in 2023, praising its "deeply ambitious, highly imaginative" approach to continuing BioShock's legacy within an "atompunk-inspired" world.

This announcement follows Mundfish's recent confirmation that Atomic Heart surpassed 10 million players. The critically acclaimed title has received multiple DLC expansions since launch, with another currently in development.
