New Evidence of Rumored Elder Scrolls 4 Remake Surfaces

Oblivion Remake Rumors Gain Steam: Unreal Engine 5 and a Potential 2025 Reveal

A LinkedIn profile belonging to a game developer strongly suggests an Oblivion remake is underway, utilizing Unreal Engine 5. This fuels speculation about a potential unveiling during a rumored Xbox Developer Direct in 2025. The anticipation is further heightened by fans eagerly awaiting a new Elder Scrolls VI trailer.

The possibility of an Oblivion remake has circulated for years, with a 2023 rumor suggesting a 2024 or 2025 launch. In late December 2024, gaming insider Jez Corden predicted the reveal would occur at an Xbox Developer Direct in January 2025. While unconfirmed, Xbox's history of holding these events in January (2023 and 2024) makes this a plausible scenario. This latest LinkedIn profile detail adds significant weight to the accumulating evidence.

A Technical Art Director at Virtuos, a studio reportedly involved in the project, lists an "unannounced Unreal Engine 5 remake for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S" among their credits. While the game isn't explicitly named, the context and the engine choice strongly point towards Oblivion, suggesting a full remake rather than a simple remaster, contrary to earlier speculation. The mention of a Fallout 3 remaster was also circulating in late 2023, although its current status remains unclear.

LinkedIn Profile Strengthens the Case for an Oblivion Remake

Oblivion, the sequel to 2002's Morrowind, captivated players in 2006 with its expansive world, impressive graphics, and memorable soundtrack. Since 2012, the dedicated Skyblivion modding community has worked to recreate Oblivion within Skyrim's engine. A recent update from the Skyblivion team hints at a 2025 release for their ambitious project.

The future of the Elder Scrolls franchise remains somewhat shrouded in mystery. The only trailer for Elder Scrolls VI, released in 2018, left fans yearning for more information. Bethesda has confirmed it's their next major project following Starfield, with director Todd Howard suggesting a release timeframe of "15 to 17 years after Skyrim." While a firm release date is still distant, many hope for a fresh trailer before the end of 2025.
