Lost in Cult and Cook and Becker Announce Legacy of Kain Encyclopedia
Following the release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered in December 2024, Crystal Dynamics, the acclaimed California-based game developer, is thrilled to unveil new ventures for the Legacy of Kain franchise. In partnership with the creative minds at Lost In Cult and the Dutch art dealership Cook and Becker, these projects aim to enrich the legacy of Nosgoth."We’re incredibly excited to be diving back into the world of Nosgoth with these two passion projects," said Ryan Brown of Lost In Cult.
The first project, The Book of Nosgoth, is an official encyclopedia that promises to be the definitive guide to the gothic universe of Nosgoth. Authored by Nic Reuben of Rock Paper Shotgun, this comprehensive tome will explore the series' locations, factions, and inhabitants in depth. It will also include a detailed timeline of the epic rivalry between Kain and Raziel, offering fans a richer understanding of the narrative.
Beyond the lore, The Book of Nosgoth will offer a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes content. Expect to see original concept art, sketches, maps, and exclusive interviews with the developers who brought the Legacy of Kain series to life. This encyclopedia will also delve into the creation of all five titles, providing a deep dive into the series’ production history.
An Official Legacy of Kain TTRPG Will Also Be Releasing Soon
The second project announced is Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan, a tabletop role-playing game set during the Sarafan Order’s crusade against the vampiric scourge in Nosgoth. Built on the critically acclaimed MÖRK BORG ruleset, this TTRPG promises a mechanics-light yet high-stakes gameplay experience. Players will take on the roles of the warrior priests of the Sarafan Order, navigating through vampire hunts, exploring Nosgoth’s hidden history, and venturing into the spectral realm.
Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan will feature six playable classes, unique weapons and spells, and an official bestiary of nocturnal horrors. The expansive world of Nosgoth will serve as the backdrop, allowing players to forge their own paths in a campaign filled with intrigue and adventure.
