Capcom Producer Hints at Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Original Character Returns
Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto has fueled speculation about the return of beloved original characters from Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Speaking at EVO 2024, Matsumoto stated that the return of Amingo, Ruby Heart, and SonSon in a future game is "always a possibility."
This renewed hope stems from the upcoming release of the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, a remastered collection of classic titles including Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Matsumoto believes this collection will reintroduce these lesser-known characters to a wider audience, potentially sparking enough interest for their inclusion in future Capcom fighting games, such as Street Fighter 6.
"If there are enough people who are interested in these characters, then who knows? Maybe there is a chance they could appear in Street Fighter 6 or another fighting game," Matsumoto stated. He emphasized that this re-release expands Capcom's creative pool and provides more content to work with.
