The TV adaptation of *The Last of Us* has been a smashing hit, so much so that Season 3 was greenlit even before Season 2 began. But what about a Season 4? Showrunner Craig Mazin has hinted that a fourth season might be crucial to fully tell the story from the two acclaimed Naughty Dog video games.
In a recent interview with Collider, Mazin explained that wrapping up the entire narrative within Season 3 would stretch the season out indefinitely. He stated that while there's a "decent chance" Season 3 might be longer than Season 2, completing the story in just three seasons "would take forever" and is simply not feasible. He emphasized, "there’s no way to complete this narrative in a third season."
Mazin expressed optimism about the future of the series, saying, "Hopefully, we’ll earn our keep enough to come back and finish it in a fourth. That’s the most likely outcome."
