Square Enix has once again confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 4 is in active development, dispelling any doubts with a recent social media post complete with captivating images. This follows their announcement of the cancellation of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, a GPS-based action-RPG for mobile devices. Despite this setback, Square Enix assured fans that the team remains "hard at work" on Kingdom Hearts 4.
"We’re currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts 4 and will continue pouring ourselves into the game’s development. We’re dedicated to making this an experience that lives up to your expectations!" stated the first of two posts. Accompanying this message was a collage of screenshots, offering glimpses of characters, cinematic scenes, combat, platforming, and a formidable large enemy.

The second post expressed gratitude for the fans' excitement and anticipation, stating, "We’ve seen how excited you are, and we are truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts. We are equally excited and can’t wait to share more about Kingdom Hearts IV when the time is right. Until then, we appreciate your patience. Thank you for your continued support."
This update marks the first substantial news on Kingdom Hearts 4 in months, following a cryptic tease in January and a full cinematic trailer in September 2022. Series director Tetsuya Nomura has hinted that Kingdom Hearts 4 will bring the long-standing narrative, spanning 22 years and 18 games, closer to its conclusion.
Regarding the cancellation of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, Square Enix extended their "heartfelt apologies" to fans eagerly awaiting the game. The decision to cancel stemmed from the belief that it would be challenging to provide a service that could satisfy players over an extended period.
