Stellar Blade's developer, SHIFT UP, has proactively addressed fan concerns about Digital Rights Management (DRM) and region lock issues as the game approaches its PC release. Dive deeper to understand how these aspects will impact your gaming experience and what measures are being taken to address them.

SHIFT UP Addressed DRM Concerns
As Stellar Blade gears up for its PC launch, SHIFT UP took to Twitter (X) on May 17 to clarify their approach to DRM, specifically Denuvo. They stated that "DRM has been meticulously optimized to maintain the same average frame rate, with even higher minimum frames in some instances."
DRM, or Digital Rights Management, is a technology designed to prevent unauthorized copying and distribution of games. Its use, particularly Denuvo, has sparked debate due to claims of performance degradation in games.
SHIFT UP shared detailed performance test results comparing the game with and without DRM. These tests demonstrated negligible differences in average framerate, minimum framerate, maximum framerate, 1% low framerate, and 0.1% low framerate, suggesting minimal impact on gameplay performance.
Moreover, Stellar Blade fully supports modding, which is often restricted in games with DRM. Fans have praised SHIFT UP's transparency but expressed a preference for the game to be DRM-free to enhance accessibility.
Region Lock Issues
Concerns also extend to region lock issues linked to PlayStation Network (PSN) compatibility. Despite not requiring a PSN connection, Stellar Blade will still be inaccessible in over 130 countries where PSN is not supported.
SHIFT UP is actively working with their publisher to resolve these region lock issues, stating they are "closely discussing the region lock issue with the publisher and are doing our BEST to resolve most of it as soon as possible." They assure that both PC and PS5 versions will deliver the same content, ensuring no disadvantage for early buyers through future updates.
While fans appreciate the developer's efforts to address these concerns, many still hope for a DRM-free experience and fewer restrictions tied to PSN. Stellar Blade's PC version is slated for release on June 11 on Steam. Stay updated with the latest news by following our articles below!
