Exciting news for fans of the action-packed game Stellar Blade: developer Shift Up has officially announced that a full sequel is in the works. Launched in April 2024 and published by PlayStation, Stellar Blade received a warm welcome from the gaming community, with many praising its gameplay for skillfully blending elements from NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

The confirmation came via a chart detailing Shift Up's future plans, part of their latest financial results released today. The chart clearly lists a Stellar Blade sequel among other upcoming projects, expected to be released before 2027. In addition to the sequel, Shift Up also mentioned a "platform expansion" for Stellar Blade, likely referring to the game's anticipated PC version, set to launch on June 11, 2025.

During this development period, Shift Up will also be working on Project Witches, a new multiplatform action RPG that remains shrouded in mystery but promises to expand their portfolio.

Earlier this week, Shift Up revealed they are addressing a PC region lock issue with Sony, which had previously blocked the game's store page on Steam in over 100 countries.

In IGN's review of Stellar Blade, the game was described as a "gorgeous and well-crafted action game" with notable strengths and weaknesses. While the story and characters were criticized for lacking depth, and some RPG elements like sidequests felt repetitive, the game's combat system, inspired by Sekiro, was praised for its solid fundamentals. The game also excels in offering challenging enemies and rewarding exploration with hidden treasures.
