It seems we may have gotten an early hint at the title for The Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel, following an apparent premature announcement in an NBCUniversal press release.
As reported across various online sources, NBCUniversal issued a press release detailing its Upfront Showcase lineup, which included a mention of Super Mario World as one of the upcoming Universal Pictures and Illumination films set to debut on the Peacock streaming service.
Shortly afterward, Universal revised the press release, removing any mention of the Mario title entirely.

It’s worth noting that the original paragraph in the NBCUniversal release referenced "Super Mario World, Shrek, and Minions." Since we know Shrek and Minions refer to Shrek 5 and Minions 3, it's possible the Mario movie sequel's final title was also not precisely listed—instead, the phrasing may have been a general descriptor. In other words, the next Shrek film is not simply titled Shrek, and the next Minions movie is not merely called Minions.
However, Super Mario World is a more distinctive title than a generic Super Mario or Super Mario Bros., which makes the speculation around its accuracy more compelling. Indeed, Super Mario World would be a logical and fitting title for the next Mario movie.
