How to Watch the Live-Action Lilo & Stitch Remake: Showtimes and Streaming Details

Authore: MatthewUpdate:May 27,2025

The live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch has hit theaters, stirring up a mix of excitement and apprehension among fans of the original. Our review gave it a commendable 8 out of 10, but for those like me who cherish the animated classic, there's a concern about potentially tarnishing those fond memories. If you're considering catching this Disney live-action adaptation in theaters, you're in luck as it's available in both standard and IMAX formats this weekend.

For those who prefer the comfort of home viewing, the wait for the digital release may be a bit longer. Typically, Disney's live-action remakes become available digitally between 45 and 65 days after their theatrical debut. If Lilo & Stitch follows suit, we might see it on digital platforms sometime in July or August. Meanwhile, if you're eager to revisit the original, it's readily available on Disney+.

The Lilo & Stitch remake is now showing in theaters across the country. To find a screening near you, check out the following links:

In addition to standard screenings, the live-action Lilo & Stitch is also available in IMAX and 3D. For a more immersive experience, some theaters offer 4DX screenings, though these are less common. Use the Fandango listings to find out if any theaters near you are showing it in these formats.

When Can You Watch It at Home?

If you're not planning to see the film in theaters, you'll need to wait a while longer for the home release. Based on the release patterns of other Disney live-action remakes, you might expect Lilo & Stitch to hit digital platforms 45 to 65 days after its theatrical release. The recent Snow White remake, for instance, was available digitally less than two months after its theater debut. A July or August digital release seems likely for Lilo & Stitch, especially given Disney's confidence in the film and their discussions about potential sequels.

For streaming on Disney+, the wait could be even longer. New Disney movies typically become available on Disney+ around 100 days after their theatrical release. Given past summer releases, Lilo & Stitch might be streamable by late August or early September.

Where to Watch the Original Movie

If you're eager to relive the magic of the original Lilo & Stitch, you can stream it in its 2D-animated form on Disney+. If you're not yet a subscriber, you can rent or buy a digital copy on Prime Video at a reasonable price.

For collectors, there's a new 4K edition of the original movie that was released earlier this year and has become quite popular. It's a fantastic addition to any Disney collection.
