"Witcher 3 to Receive Final 2025 Patch: Console Mods Introduced"

Authore: SadieUpdate:Jul 08,2025

Exciting news for fans of *The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt*—CD Projekt Red is preparing one final patch slated for release later in 2025, and it brings with it a groundbreaking feature: cross-platform mod support. This marks the first time ever that console players will be able to access and enjoy mods directly within the game.

The announcement was made as part of the studio’s celebrations honoring the 10th anniversary of *The Witcher 3*. The upcoming update will extend mod compatibility across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, making mod creation, sharing, and usage more accessible than ever before. As CD Projekt stated, this patch aims to open up new creative possibilities for the game’s passionate community.

How Cross-Platform Mod Support Works

To take advantage of this new feature, players will need to create a mod.io account and link it to their existing CD Projekt Red account. Once connected, users can browse, download, and apply mods seamlessly across platforms. It’s important to note that while mod.io integration is required for console mod access, traditional modding services remain available for PC users who prefer not to use mod.io.

However, mod creation will still require tools like the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt REDkit, which is only available on PC. Console players will be able to enjoy the fruits of those creations but won’t be able to build or edit mods themselves directly on their platforms.

This update is a major milestone for a game that launched nearly a decade ago yet continues to thrive. Despite its age, *The Witcher 3* maintains a vibrant player base and remains one of the most beloved RPGs of all time.

Sales Success: 60 Million Copies Sold

*The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt* has now reached an impressive sales figure of over 60 million copies sold, including both the base version and the Game of the Year edition. This number does not include separately sold expansions, meaning the true total engagement with the title is even higher.

This milestone puts *The Witcher 3* neck-and-neck with Bethesda’s iconic *The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim*, which Todd Howard, Bethesda’s development chief, revealed had surpassed 60 million copies sold in a June 2023 interview with IGN. With these numbers, the race for the title of best-selling RPG of all time is now a dead heat.

"Without a doubt, the third part of Geralt’s adventures marks a pivotal point in our history. The game earned hundreds of awards and solidified our studio’s standing, but more importantly, it brought untold hours of adventures and emotions to millions of gamers the world over. I am proud to announce that since its release *The Witcher 3* has sold over 60 million copies, securing a place among the bestselling video games in all history, and motivating us to carry on with intensive work on the next trilogy set in this universe."

— Adam Badowski, Joint CEO of CD Projekt

His comments also serve as a nod to the highly anticipated *The Witcher 4*, which is currently in full production. In fact, 422 out of 730 developers at CD Projekt are dedicated to the project. However, fans will have to wait until at least [ttpp] for the sequel’s release.
