• Stomach (Bụng) – The pile of remaining cards after dealing.
• Mom (Móm) – When a player ends the game without completing a single phom.
• Take the Pin (Ăn Chốt) – Playing a card from the discard pile on the final turn.
• Send – If your discarded card can be added to the phom of the player who played the last card, you may send it, removing it from your score.
• Compensation (Ù Trả Tiền) – If a player takes the pin and someone later Ùs, they must compensate points. This also applies if a player collects three consecutive cards.
• Re – If another player plays a card that matches one already on the table, you get an extra turn.

How to Play Phom

Each player is dealt 9 cards, except the dealer (or previous winner), who receives 10. Players take turns in a counterclockwise direction. On each turn, a player can either pick up the last discarded card (pin) if it helps them form a phom or draw a new card from the stomach. After drawing or taking a card, the player must discard one card.

The game ends when a player achieves ù. If no one reaches this state, the game continues until four turns are completed. At that point, the scores of leftover cards are tallied to determine the winner. A, J, Q, K are worth 1, 11, 12, and 13 points respectively, while other cards retain their face value.

Scoring System

• Lowest total score wins.
• In case of ties, the player who laid down their cards first is declared the winner.
• Final scoring adjustments:
  • First place: +6 points
  • Second place: –1 point
  • Third place: –2 points
  • Last place: –3 points
  • Player who took the pin: –4 points
  • Player who picked up the pin: +4 points
  • Player who achieved ù: +15 points (each opponent loses 5 points)
  • Burned player: –4 points to the winner
