The cards we're showcasing today are part of the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, integrated within the broader main set. These are reprints of existing cards, reimagined with stunning concept art and characters from various Final Fantasy games. While they don't introduce new mechanics or unique cards like those featured in the recently showcased Commander decks, their artwork spans the rich history of the Final Fantasy series, starting from the very first game.

Unlike the cards in the main set, the Through the Ages cards do not become legal in Magic's Standard format, though they remain legal if the original card was already permissible. Essentially, they offer alternate art versions of existing cards. You can find them in both the premium Collector Boosters and approximately one in every three regular Play Boosters, which are ideal for Limited events such as Draft and Sealed.

If you're planning to dive deep into this set, whether at your local game store or digitally on platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, you'll likely encounter these cards frequently. Five of the six cards are Rares, making them less common, but Thrum of the Vestige stands out as an Uncommon. This card is a reskin of the iconic Lightning Bolt, and its impact on the set could be significant.

The Warrior of Light reprinting of Jodah, the Unifier is expected to be highly sought after. Jodah is a powerful and popular Commander, and the artwork here is Amano's iconic piece from the Japanese boxart of the original Final Fantasy. Similarly, Amano's legendary art for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been adapted for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's strongest partner commanders, which has been reprinted only once prior to this set.

These cards will be physically available as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions launching on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy fan not yet into Magic, there's still excitement to be found, as Tetsuya Nomura, director of the FF7 Remake series, hinted at a unique design choice for Sephiroth's card for a mysterious reason.
