Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a slew of new features that will keep fans engaged throughout 2025. The comprehensive plan was shared in a succinct yet informative four-and-a-half-minute video, detailing specific updates scheduled for May and June, along with a commitment to ongoing free updates throughout the year.
The rollout of new content begins in early May with The Works of Luis Frois, the first in a series of free story add-ons. Alongside this, players can expect a Codex update and several quality-of-life improvements, including significant enhancements to parkour and an updated photo mode. Ubisoft emphasizes that these updates reflect their ongoing commitment to community feedback and continuous improvement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
"Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released," stated community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. "Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms."
In June, the next free story drop will arrive, accompanied by new difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear during cutscenes. These enhancements respond directly to player requests, but Ubisoft promises even more before the year ends, including new game+ support, additional story content, and special collaborations.
The highlight of the post-launch roadmap is the Claws of Awaji DLC expansion, set to release later in 2025. This expansion introduces new content, such as the Bo staff weapon and a new region for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke to explore, promising a 10-hour journey. While pricing details are still under wraps, the expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, bringing Ubisoft’s iconic stealth series to the vibrant setting of Feudal Japan.
