Attention, Sims enthusiasts! The infamous Burglar, a beloved character from the older Sims games, is making a grand return to The Sims 4 with the latest update. Available on both PC and console, this update reintroduces Robin Banks, so it's wise to secure your valuables. She typically targets homes under the cover of night, sneaking in when everyone's asleep, though she's been known to attempt a heist even when Sims are awake. Stay vigilant!
To fend off the thief, Sims can install a burglar alarm. If Robin Banks triggers it, the police will arrive promptly to apprehend her and retrieve your stolen items. Even without an alarm, you can still call the police, but you'll need to act quickly. Alternatively, you might consider taking matters into your own hands with a bit of vigilante justice. The choice is yours.
The Burglar's return to The Sims 4 comes more than a decade after its initial release. While these events are rare by design, thrill-seekers can activate the Lot Challenge Heist Havoc to increase the likelihood of a break-in.
"We are so excited to bring the Burglar back into The Sims universe," the team behind The Sims stated. "A huge thank you to our dedicated team for bringing this to life. Robin Banks isn't just here to steal your Sims' belongings—she's ready to capture your hearts too! What better way to celebrate The Sims' 25th Birthday than with this nostalgic yet fresh addition? We can't wait to see the kind of chaos Robin Banks will bring to your households."
Despite The Sims 4 being a decade old—and the franchise celebrating its 25th anniversary—the game continues to attract new players. Last year alone, it welcomed over 15 million new players. According to EA's Q2 earnings report from late last year, The Sims 4, which was initially a premium title, took four years to reach 20 million unique players. When it transitioned to a free-to-play model in 2022, it saw an immediate surge of 31 million new players, reaching a total of 85 million by May 2024. And, while fans eagerly await news, there are currently no plans for The Sims 5... Plum!
