The upcoming Narnia reboot from acclaimed Barbie filmmaker Greta Gerwig continues expanding its impressive cast with Academy Award nominee Carey Mulligan.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Mulligan joins an all-star lineup including Daniel Craig (former James Bond), Emma Mackey (Sex Education), and legendary actress Meryl Streep.
Gerwig returns to her dual role as writer-director for this fresh interpretation of C.S. Lewis' beloved fantasy saga.
The film will adapt The Magician's Nephew, the chronological prequel to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe that explores Narnia's origins.
Award-winning actress Mulligan (known for Promising Young Woman and Maestro) will portray Mabel Kirke, mother of child protagonist Digory.
Daniel Craig transforms into the mysterious titular magician and Digory's uncle, while Mackey will portray a younger incarnation of the White Witch. Streep lends her voice to Aslan, the divine lion central to Narnia's mythology.
This marks Warner Bros.' attempt to reboot the franchise following Disney/Walden Media's earlier trilogy (2005-2010) starring Tilda Swinton as the White Witch and Liam Neeson as Aslan.
Gerwig's Narnia project represents her first major undertaking since directing 2023's billion-dollar phenomenon Barbie, which earned eight Oscar nominations including Best Picture.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew is currently slated for a 2026 theatrical release.
