Following the massive success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, developer Sandfall Interactive is poised to embark on its next ambitious project. Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz on May 27, Sandfall Interactive COO and Producer François Meurisse confirmed that the studio is already planning its next game.
“There will be another video game, for sure,” Meurisse emphasized. While the specifics remain under wraps, the team is eager to dive deeper into their creative concepts for the upcoming title. “I can't wait to dig more into the ideas we already have for the next game,” he added.
Throughout the development of Expedition 33, the team at Sandfall Interactive honed their skills and gained invaluable experience. Many members were relatively junior when the project began, but their collaborative efforts transformed them into a cohesive unit. According to Meurisse, “We learned to work together. So I can't wait to get to the next project, because we'll start from a more efficient position than when we started the company five years ago.” He further noted that the team, particularly Guillaume, has exciting ideas for their future endeavors.
While it’s uncertain whether this next game will be a direct sequel to Expedition 33 or a completely new intellectual property, fans remain hopeful for potential DLC content. Earlier this month, Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen hinted at the possibility of an expansion for the game.

In a recent Twitter (X) announcement on May 27, Sandfall Interactive celebrated another remarkable achievement. Expedition 33 has sold 3.3 million copies in just 33 days, underscoring the game’s unprecedented popularity.
The post read, “Seriously. As of today. We couldn’t make that up. Another entry on the long list of surreal moments that your support has made real. Thank you ALL.” This milestone highlights the game’s sustained success across platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
