In "For Whom the Bell Tolls," a main quest in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, you'll find yourself at Trosky Castle, where you'll need to harness the art of alchemy to save a life. Here's a detailed guide on how to concoct the Fever Tonic, essential for progressing in the quest.

The recipe for Fever Tonic can be found in the Surgeon's Workshop within Trosky Castle. You have two methods to gain entry:
- Sneaking In: Stealthily enter the workshop to avoid detection.
- Persuasion: Convince the chamberlain that you can craft a digestive potion to alleviate his stomach issues. Successfully passing skill checks will grant you access to the workshop.
If you prefer not to sneak, you can progress through the "For Whom the Bell Tolls" quest by delivering the horseshoe. After this, revisit the forge and engage with Cook Fanka. Offer to help her with her locked chest, and she will lead you to the noble's kitchen. Upon entering, you'll notice the chamberlain suffering from pain. Initiate a conversation about his health and attempt to pass the skill checks to earn access to the Surgeon's Workshop. If you also craft a digestive potion alongside the Fever Tonic and return it to the chamberlain, he will allow you to meet Thomas.

In case the skill checks fail, you'll need to resort to stealing some food, exit the kitchen, and head to the other side of the courtyard. Ascend the stairs to the right, leading to another kitchen where a guard is stationed. Offer him the stolen food to distract him, allowing you to sneak upstairs to the Surgeon's Workshop. There, locate the physician's journal on a bookshelf, read it, and use the station to brew your potions.
How to Brew Fever Tonic

The herbs required for the Fever Tonic are already laid out at the surgeon's station. Open your book to the page on Fever Tonicum and follow these steps:
- Pour wine into the cauldron.
- Add 3 handfuls of Feverfew.
- Lower the cauldron and boil for 2 turns of the sandglass.
- Grind a handful of Elderberry Leaves using the mortar and pestle.
- Add the ground Elderberry Leaves to the mixture.
- Add 2 handfuls of Ginger.
- Retrieve a phial from the bottom left shelf of the station, located under the wine.
- Distill the tonic using the Still.
Don't worry if you don't succeed on your first attempt; you have ample herbs at your disposal, and more can be found in the chest within the room. Given your prior experience with potion-making, crafting the Fever Tonic should be manageable.
Once you've successfully brewed the Fever Tonic, you'll need to reach Thomas. If you've earned the chamberlain's trust by crafting a digestive potion, return to him with both potions. Otherwise, use the noble's kitchen to sneak up to the chapel where you'll find Thomas and his sister, Adele. Converse with Adele to complete the quest.
