Disney Lorcana has just unveiled a wealth of exciting updates for fans of the trading card game, promising a dynamic future with new sets, card types, and competitive events. The highly anticipated ninth set, named Fabled, is set to launch on September 5, 2025, introducing the first-ever Iconic and Epic cards, along with the much-awaited inclusion of characters from A Goofy Movie.

Before Fabled hits the shelves, the eighth set, Reign of Jafar, will debut on June 6, following a pre-release on May 30. Additionally, a new Collection Starter Set was announced, and details about the inaugural Disney Lorcana World Championship were shared. Fans also got a sneak peek at future content, including the tease of Darkwing Duck joining the game in 2026.

Fabled Will Add Iconic and Epic Cards, A Goofy Movie, and Rotating Cards for Competitive Play

Disney Lorcana Fabled Set PreviewThe anticipation for Fabled is palpable, especially with the pre-release set for August 29 and the full release following on September 5. One of the headline additions to Fabled is the inclusion of cards from A Goofy Movie, though specific cards remain under wraps. The set will also introduce the first Iconic Cards, featuring Mickey and Minnie on a carousel. These Iconic Cards, limited to two per set, will be the rarest cards in Lorcana, making them highly sought after by collectors and players alike.

Accompanying the Iconic Cards are the new Epic Cards, which fall between Legendary and Enchanted in rarity. These cards will boast unique artwork and foil treatments, offering fans a chance to acquire special cards like a new Elsa (Snow Queen) card.

Fabled marks a pivotal shift in competitive play with the introduction of card rotation. Cards from the first four sets will no longer be legal in Core Constructed, the top-tier competitive format. However, fans of older cards can still enjoy them in a new format called Infinity Constructed. Moreover, Fabled will include reprints of popular cards from earlier sets, such as Winnie the Pooh (Hunny Wizard), which will remain legal for competitive play.

But because we know there are cards in those early sets that are important to a lot of fans’ deck-building strategies, and we know not everybody got the cards they wanted the first year, we’re re-printing some cards from those first sets in Fabled. Including Enchanted versions of some fan favorites!”

For newcomers eager to dive into Lorcana, the Collection Starter Set offers an excellent entry point. This set includes four Fabled booster packs, a Tinker Bell (Giant Fairy) "Glimmer Foil" Promo Card, a card portfolio featuring Mickey Mouse (Brave Little Tailor), and a collector's guide.
