In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, sprinting is automatic after a few steps of running, which is handy for navigating the vast battlefields. However, to truly enhance your mobility and combat effectiveness, especially when rushing to save allied officers or engaging in quick battles, using a horse is crucial. Horses not only boost your speed but also allow you to execute hit-and-run tactics in the thick of battle. Let's dive into how you can unlock your first horse, level it up, and switch between different steeds.
How To Unlock The First Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Unlocking your first horse is a breeze and happens early in the game. During Chapter 1, after you've conquered the "Test Of Zheng Fei," head northeast from Wan Castle towards the Battle Of Guangzong. Before you reach the camp, you'll encounter a merchant standing next to his horse in the overworld. Simply engage in a conversation with him, and he'll generously gift you your very first horse. Once received, it will be automatically equipped, ready for you to ride. To summon your horse and mount it, press down on the left joystick if you're playing on a console, or hit the 'V' key on a keyboard.
How To Level Up Your Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Leveling up your horse is essential for enhancing its abilities. Your horse gains XP from any mission or main story battle you complete while it's equipped, even if you don't actively use it during the fight. Note that Skirmishes won't contribute to your horse's XP. Missions, marked by a red diamond with a soldier icon, are your best bet for XP gains. The amount of XP your horse earns depends on the battle's length and how much you utilize your horse for charging into enemies. As your horse levels up, it unlocks unique buffs at various milestones, with each horse offering different perks.
How To Switch Horses In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
While your first horse comes equipped by default, you'll soon have the opportunity to expand your stable. To switch horses, head to the Battle Preparation menu where you'll find the option to equip or unequip horses listed on the left side of the screen. Each horse boasts unique perks, and some are naturally faster or more advantageous in battle. To acquire new horses, focus on raising the peace level of a region to its maximum. Once you achieve this, a reward, often a new horse, will be left at a nearby waypoint for you to claim.
