Authore: JulianUpdate:May 21,2025

In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, while many achievements focus on hunting the largest and most fearsome creatures, there's one that requires you to capture the smallest of them all. If you're aiming to unlock the 'Caught a Shooting Star' trophy/achievement, here's your detailed guide.

The 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' hidden trophy/achievement is unique for its simplicity yet elusiveness. If you're not aware of it, you might miss it entirely.

To unlock it, you need to capture a rare endemic life form in the **Windward Plains** known as the **Sandstar**. This small creature, resembling a desert mouse with a long tail and shimmering fur, can only be found at night in a specific area of the region.

Since the Windward Plains are often explored during the day in the game's storyline, you'll need to wait until nightfall. Here are two methods to do so:

  • Fast Travel – Available as soon as you unlock different fast travel points in the Windward Plains. Use your interactive map to fast travel between points, which will advance the time until it's night.
  • Rest – After completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content, you can rest at a base or pop-up camp. Use your Guild Points to choose the time of day (Morning, Daytime, Evening, or Nighttime) and environmental conditions (No Change, Fallow, Plenty, or Inclemency).

The Sandstar is not only small but also incredibly fast, even when you're sprinting on your Seikret. To increase your chances of catching it, gather **Screamer Pods** from **Baunos**, small red-winged monsters found in the Windward Plains. These creatures roam in groups around **Area 11** and **Area 13**, and you can obtain Screamer Pods by defeating them.

Once it's night in the Windward Plains, head to the midpoint between Area 11 and Area 13. Keep a keen eye out for the Sandstar. When you spot it, chase it at full speed and use your Screamer Pods to stun it. Quickly switch to your **Capture Net** (used for fishing) and throw it at the Sandstar to capture it. Upon successful capture, the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement will unlock, and you'll receive the **Ribbon Dream: Amber** nameplate for your Hunter Profile.

That's how you can achieve the 'I Caught a Shooting Star' trophy/achievement in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and guides, be sure to explore our other content, including how to skip cutscenes.
