Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed hidden encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and weapon set skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. However, its location makes it easily missed. This guide details how to locate and activate this beneficial encounter.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan are found twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with their shrine in each act grants +10% Lightning Resistance. The shrine's icon is inconspicuous on the world map, leading many players to overlook it.
Map generation in PoE 2 is randomized, so there's no guaranteed location within the Spires of Deshar. However, it's always present on this map. Thorough exploration is key. The shrine resembles the image above. Upon interaction, metallic automatons guarding the shrine will activate and attack. In fact, interacting with the shrine triggers all automatons on the map.
A checkpoint near the exit allows fast travel back to the shrine, avoiding a potentially challenging trek through the map.
Activating the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied immediately upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; it's an instant buff.
Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan appear in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in both acts yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Why My Lightning Resistance Isn't Increasing
Many players are puzzled to find their Lightning Resistance remains negative even after activating the shrine. This is due to a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances applied after each Act (Chaos Resistance is unaffected).
Completing the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2 nets zero Lightning Resistance (the buff cancels the Act 1 debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the buff partially offsets the cumulative debuff, resulting in a net reduction.
To verify the buffs are active, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance indicates the buffs are working as intended.
