The news of the Punisher special coincides with Marvel Television's plans to bring back the Defenders on Disney+. This beloved street-level superhero team, featuring Matt Murdock's Daredevil, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Finn Jones' Iron Fist, was last seen on Netflix before their episodes were integrated into the MCU canon on Disney+. Brad Winderbaum expressed his enthusiasm for this venture, stating, "It’s certainly exciting to be able to play in that sandbox. Obviously, we don’t have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book, [where] if you can draw it, you can do it. We’re dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television. But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring."
*Daredevil: Born Again*, set to release on March 4, continues the gripping narrative that began on Netflix.
