Ritter joined her co-star Charlie Cox on stage to share her enthusiasm about returning to the role of the hard-hitting private investigator. The character appeared in two more seasons and the Defenders crossover series, but as Netflix's era with original Marvel content came to an end, the future of Ritter's portrayal seemed uncertain.
However, in 2021, Disney regained the rights to characters like Jessica Jones, sparking hope for their return to the MCU. With Charlie Cox's successful return in Spider-Man: No Way Home and his starring role in Daredevil: Born Again, the stage was set for other Netflix heroes to make their MCU debut. The inclusion of The Punisher in Season 1 paved the way for Jessica Jones' comeback in Season 2.
Ritter's last appearance as Jessica Jones was in Season 3, which aired in 2019.
