Indie studio We Are Muesli has unveiled their latest project, a narrative game titled In Their Shoes, set for release in 2026 on both mobile and PC platforms. This game has already garnered attention, earning a nomination for the 'A MAZE. 2025' awards in Berlin, which celebrates independent and arthouse games.
In Their Shoes: A Narrative Game Focused on Listening
In Their Shoes is set in the vibrant and contradictory city of Milan. The game invites players to step into the lives of seven distinct characters through 49 short interactive stories, each known as a Moment. These Moments offer a window into the daily lives of the characters, capturing their hesitations, routines, and the split-second decisions they face.
The gameplay varies in pace; some Moments unfold slowly, allowing players to immerse themselves in the characters' thoughts, while others demand quick reactions, reflecting the urgency of real-life situations. Unlike typical narrative games, In Their Shoes presents a less structured narrative. As players navigate through the fragmented stories, they can uncover 26 hidden biographical details for each character, offering a rich slice-of-life experience.
While the Play Store page for In Their Shoes is yet to be launched, the game's Steam page is already live. For a sneak peek, check out the announcement trailer below.
