Mutt's Location:
Mutt is near a wolf cave southwest of the Nomads' Camp, just east of the river bathing spot. The image below pinpoints his location.
Fast travel to the Nomads' Camp for easy access. Follow the path southwest into the woods; you'll likely find the cave. You'll hear Mutt's whimpers as you approach.
Approaching triggers a cutscene showing Mutt and wolves. A combat tutorial involving Mutt will also initiate. Fight or flee the wolves – engaging them offers a skill-boosting opportunity.
After the wolf encounter, Mutt will be under your control. Hold L1 (while facing him) to interact, feed him, or send him home.
Finding Mutt During the "Invaders" Side Quest:
The wolf cave is easily discovered during the "Invaders" quest, particularly if you interact with the Cumans. Following Vasko while intoxicated leads directly to the cave, triggering the Mutt encounter. However, fighting wolves while drunk and in the dark is challenging.
It's strongly advised to rescue Mutt before continuing the "Invaders" quest. Navigating the encounter sober and in daylight is significantly easier.
