Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
Square Enix marked NieR's 15th Anniversary with a range of announcements, highlighting new events and projects. During the livestream on April 19, they introduced the online special novel titled [U]ndecided Option.
This online novel will feature three updates, with the first one already available. The subsequent updates will be released on April 25 and May 2. The novel's synopsis hints at an intriguing storyline: "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."
To keep fans engaged, Square Enix also launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, serving as the main hub for the online special novel and other upcoming projects and events.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork of the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Stay tuned for more details on tickets and other information.
The NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 will extend to Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are currently available through a lottery system, and further details can be found on the concert's official website.
Exciting new merchandise has also been revealed, including an album featuring newly recorded jazz arrangements from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set to release in December 2024. Additionally, the NieR Weapon Story book, boasting over 650 stories about weapons from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, and scale figures of the NieR series protagonists are also on the horizon.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
Starting April 28, NieR Re[in]carnation, the franchise's first mobile title, will launch a developer blog series. Monthly updates throughout the year will provide insights into the creation process of Re[in]carnation.
Originally released in January 2021, the game was unfortunately shut down in April 2024 due to monetization challenges. The sudden introduction of a developer blog for a discontinued title has left fans curious, with many speculating about a potential sequel or remake, though no official announcements have been made yet.
The livestream concluded with an over 20-minute live performance, showcasing soundtracks from across the NieR franchise. Square Enix promises more exciting events and merchandise announcements in the near future, ensuring that NieR fans have much to look forward to.
