Nintendo has officially revealed the costs for upgrading two more Switch games from their original versions to the enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. However, the price for these upgrades is significantly higher than what fans might have anticipated.
Previously, upgrading from the original Switch version to the Switch 2 Edition of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was set at $9.99 each. In contrast, NintendoLife has reported that the upgrade costs for both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are more than double that amount.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integration with the new "Zelda Notes" feature in the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Breath of the Wild on the Switch can access these enhancements through an "upgrade pack" priced at $10.
For the Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, players will experience new story content in the "Star-Crossed World." Meanwhile, Super Mario Party Jamboree's Switch 2 Edition introduces "Jamboree TV," a new content suite that utilizes the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, Switch 2 microphone, and the Switch 2 USB-C camera (sold separately). Both games also feature upgraded resolutions up to 1440p in TV mode, enhanced frame rates, new minigames, and improved online functionalities.
While U.S. prices are not yet listed on the American Nintendo eShop, possibly due to uncertainties related to President Trump's tariffs, the UK Nintendo eShop has the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade pack priced at £16.99 / €19.99. This is more than twice the £7.99 / €9.99 required to upgrade either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom. The Super Mario Party Jamboree upgrade follows suit, suggesting a U.S. price of $19.99.
The $20 upgrade fee for both games may be influenced by the substantial $80 price tag for the full Nintendo Switch 2 Edition versions of Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. These editions are $20 more expensive than their original Switch counterparts, which are priced at $59.99 each.
Here's a look at the U.S. prices for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games for those not opting for an upgrade:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99
- Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $79.99
It's worth noting that the upgrade packs for both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are available at no additional cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. Unfortunately, as of now, no such offer exists for those looking to upgrade Kirby or Super Mario Party Jamboree.
Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 opened on April 24, with the console priced at $449.99. The demand has been overwhelming, leading Nintendo to warn U.S. customers who pre-ordered through the My Nintendo Store that delivery on the release date is not guaranteed.
