Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege X: A Major Update, Not a New Game
Ubisoft recently unveiled Rainbow Six Siege X, not as a new game, but as a significant upgrade to the existing Rainbow Six Siege title, celebrating its upcoming 10th anniversary. The announcement, made on February 17th, 2025, promises major gameplay enhancements and refinements.
March 2025 Showcase:
A dedicated showcase is planned for March 13th, 2025, at 10:00 am PDT / 1:00 pm EDT in Atlanta, Georgia. This event will offer an in-depth look at the changes coming with Siege X, including "new ways to play, deepened tactical gameplay, refined game feel, and major upgrades." Limited in-person tickets ($10 USD, including a shirt and in-game cosmetic pack) are available to legal residents of the USA and Canada (18+ years old, with a good standing R6 Siege account). A VIP giveaway, including travel and accommodation, is also running for two lucky fans.
Season 10: Operation Prep Phase (March 4th, 2025):
Before the Siege X overhaul hits live servers, Season 10, titled "Operation Prep Phase," launches on March 4th, 2025, introducing:
- New Operator: Aurora, with deployable bulletproof doors.
- New Elite Skin: For operator Aruni.
- New Reputation System: Rewarding positive and penalizing negative player behavior.
A Decade of Siege:
Originally released on December 1st, 2015, Rainbow Six Siege has enjoyed a remarkable run across multiple platforms (PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S). This extensive update aims to further extend the game's lifespan and maintain its position as a leading live-service shooter.
The timing suggests the major Siege X upgrades will be implemented after the launch of Season 10. Stay tuned for the March 13th showcase for a complete unveiling of the changes.
