Hollow Knight: Silksong enthusiasts, your patience is about to be rewarded! The much-anticipated game will soon be available to play at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture. Dive into the details about the upcoming exhibit and what you can expect if you're planning to visit.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable Version
Available at Game Worlds in Australia
The excitement around Hollow Knight: Silksong has been palpable since its announcement, and fans have been eagerly awaiting any chance to experience the game. Now, the wait is over as Silksong will feature a playable version at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This version promises to be a significant evolution from the demo showcased at E3 in 2019, which was more of a "proof of concept" than a full-fledged experience.
ACMI's Game Worlds exhibition, running from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026, will host this exclusive opportunity. Alongside Silksong, the exhibit will showcase other iconic games like World of Warcraft and The Sims, with custom builds and a deep dive into their original design materials, concept art, and iconic objects.
In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about featuring Silksong. "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September," they shared.
Since its announcement, details about Silksong have been scarce, leaving fans to rely on rumors and speculation. The Game Worlds exhibit at ACMI aims to quench this thirst for information by providing a comprehensive look at Silksong.
The co-curators further elaborated on the exhibit's focus, saying, "From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design."
While the Australian event hints at a possible launch window for Silksong, no official release date has been confirmed. The game did make a brief appearance during the Switch 2 Direct, confirming a 2025 release window. With the exhibit concluding in 2026, fans are hopeful that Silksong might launch as early as September 2025, within the exhibit's timeframe.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Stay tuned to our updates for the latest news on this eagerly awaited title!
