Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to make progress, as confirmed by Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin. Dive into the latest details and fan speculations surrounding this eagerly awaited sequel!
This Is Not A Joke, Silksong Is Real
Confirmed By Team Cherry’s Griffin
Following the buzz about a cake that sparked numerous speculations, Hollow Knight fans can now breathe a sigh of relief. Team Cherry’s Marketing and Publishing Head, Matthew "Leth" Griffin, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to reassure fans that Silksong is indeed real and actively being developed. This clarification came in response to a fan's plea for any sign of hope regarding the game's progress.
The speculation began when Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen changed his X profile picture to an image of a cake, leading fans to believe it hinted at a Silksong ARG or an announcement related to the Nintendo Switch 2. However, YouTuber fireb0rn, after reaching out to Griffin, clarified that Pellen's tweet was merely a "nothingburger"—a harmless change with no deeper meaning. Fireb0rn humorously apologized for the confusion, stating, "The cake was a lie."
Despite the cake-related confusion, Griffin firmly reasserted the game's status, stating, "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This marks the first substantial update from Team Cherry in over a year and a half, providing a much-needed reassurance to fans.
Silksong’s Six-Year-Long History
First unveiled in February 2019 and initially scheduled for release in the first half of 2023, Silksong faced a delay announced by Team Cherry in May 2023. The team explained that the game had expanded significantly, prompting them to take additional time to enhance it further. Silksong promises to transport players to a new kingdom, featuring nearly 150 new enemies and a challenging new mode, Silk Soul.
The latest update, though brief, has elicited mixed reactions from the community. Some fans are grateful for the update and continue to show support, urging Team Cherry not to succumb to external pressures. Others, however, express growing impatience after nearly six years of anticipation, feeling that the update was the "bare minimum" for such a highly anticipated title.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The game will follow Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on her perilous journey across an unfamiliar world, culminating in a deadly pilgrimage to the kingdom's peak. While no specific release window has been announced yet, stay tuned for further updates and announcements!
