Ubisoft is steering Skull and Bones into its most ambitious year yet, with Year 2 set to transform the pirate multiplayer game through a slew of exciting updates. The roadmap for the next year, unveiled in a special Year 2 showcase, is brimming with content that promises to elevate the gaming experience, highlighted by the much-anticipated addition of land combat.
The spotlight of the showcase was on Season 3: Guts and Glory, slated for this fall, which will introduce the long-awaited land combat feature. This addition will allow players to step off their ships and engage in thrilling swordfights and gun battles on land. As part of the Rogue Warlord updates in Season 3, players will explore sandy beaches and damp caves to recruit skilled Officers. A teaser video offered a glimpse into what's in store, but full details will unfold later this year.
While land combat is the crown jewel of Skull and Bones Year 2, the showcase detailed a wealth of other content to keep players engaged throughout 2025. Season 1, Ascent into Chaos, launches today, April 15, introducing an item ascension feature to boost loot, challenging World Tiers, a new Schooner medium ship, and the Death Tides PvP mode. Season 2: Oaths of War, set for summer 2025, will feature Megaforts and the formidable Frigate large ships. Season 4: Eye of the Beast, arriving this winter, will introduce the legendary Kraken, the Hunter’s Guild, and the Corvette large ship.
For those eager to dive into the pirate adventure, Ubisoft is hosting a free weekend from April 17 – 21, offering a chance to experience the PvP action firsthand. Additionally, the game will be available at a discounted price during this period, though specifics on the discount have yet to be revealed.
Skull and Bones set sail on February 16, 2024, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S platforms, earning a commendable 7/10 in our review. While Ubisoft has kept sales figures under wraps, they did hint at "record player engagement" shortly after launch.
