Expanding on the No Return Mode, Sony announced the addition of two new characters from The Last of Us Part I: Bill and Marlene.

  • Bill: Characterized by a "Smuggler" playstyle, Bill can access a custom pump shotgun from dead drops, earns double rewards from drops, is stronger against melee attacks, but cannot dodge.
  • Marlene: With a "Risk Taker" playstyle, she wields a Custom Assault Rifle, uses "All or Nothing" gambits, and can reroute her No Return path once per run.

Additionally, four new maps are being introduced to No Return Mode:

  • Overlook: Set high above Seattle with significant verticality, known from a Seraphites encounter in the campaign.
  • School: The abandoned elementary school where Ellie and Dina face the W.L.F.
  • Streets: Located in the overgrown Seattle neighborhood of Hillcrest.

The new No Return content, along with new Trophies and additional bug fixes, will be available on PS5 simultaneously with the PC launch through a free downloadable 2.0.0 patch.

Sony also detailed an optional PSN log-in for the PC version of The Last of Us 2 Remastered. Players who opt to sign in will access the PlayStation overlay, PSN Trophies, and receive 50 in-game points to unlock bonus features, including a new skin for Ellie featuring Jordan A. Mun’s jacket from Naughty Dog’s upcoming PS5 game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. PS5 players can also unlock this skin through the 2.0 patch using in-game bonus points.

The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann recently shared insights about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which has been in development for four years. The game, starring Tati Gabrielle as Jordan A. Mun, explores themes of faith and religion within an alternate historical timeline.

The PC release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered comes ahead of Season 2 of HBO's acclaimed TV adaptation, where showrunners Druckmann and Craig Mazin have confirmed the return of spores, which were omitted from Season 1.
