The rumor mill for a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater remake is heating up, with Singapore's rating board adding fuel to the fire by rating "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4" for a 2025 release. This speculated collection, encompassing the third and fourth entries in the iconic Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, is reportedly set to launch on a diverse array of platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
While no official word has come from Activision yet, a countdown timer within Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been teasing some exciting Tony Hawk's Pro Skater news, set to be unveiled on March 4, 2025. This has fans eagerly anticipating what's to come.
Adding to the excitement, Tony Hawk himself hinted at a collaboration with Activision during a chat on Mythical Kitchen. "It will be something the fans will truly appreciate," Hawk stated, fueling speculation about the nature of their upcoming project.
Following the critically acclaimed remake of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 in 2020, a follow-up remake of games 3 and 4 seemed almost inevitable. However, the landscape shifted when Activision integrated the THPS remake developer, Vicarious Visions, into Blizzard in 2021, reallocating the team to focus on Blizzard's projects.
Tony Hawk revealed in a Twitch livestream in 2022 that the original plan was to proceed with remakes of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 immediately after the release of 1+2. But with Vicarious Visions' new direction, Activision sought other developers. Hawk shared, "The truth of it is that [Activision] were trying to find somebody to do 3 + 4 but they just didn’t really trust anyone the way they did Vicarious, so they took other pitches from other studios... And they didn’t like anything they heard, and then that was it."
The big question now is, if a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 remake is indeed on the horizon, who is behind its development? The Singaporean ratings board only credits Activision as both the publisher and developer. With the countdown timer ticking down to March 4, next week might just bring the clarity fans have been waiting for.
