World of Warcraft Delays Plunderstorm Launch

WoW's Plunderstorm Event Delayed Due to Unexpected Issues

World of Warcraft has unexpectedly postponed the launch of its second Plunderstorm event. While initially slated for January 14th, 2025, unforeseen technical problems have pushed back the release. No new launch time has been provided.

Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was set to return with both original and new rewards. The planned six-hour maintenance period was extended to eight hours, but further "unexpected issues" have caused a further delay. Blizzard aims to launch Plunderstorm before the end of January 14th, but players should anticipate further waiting.

Plunderstorm Launch Window:

  • Before the close of January 14th, 2025, pending resolution of unforeseen technical difficulties.

In the meantime, World of Warcraft's regular servers are operational. Players can engage in other activities, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the Turbulent Timeways event, or pursuing other content within the game.

The upcoming Plunderstorm iteration includes new features like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. These additions may be contributing to the current delays.

Despite the event delay, the associated Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are currently active. Viewers can earn the Coward's Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch stream before February 4th at 10 AM PST. The streamer does not need to be playing Plunderstorm.
