Experience the timeless joy of the classic offline 29 card game anytime, anywhere! The 29 Card Game, also known as the 28 Card Game in some regions with slight rule variations, is a popular South Asian trick-taking game where the Jack and Nine reign supreme as the highest-ranking cards in each suit.
Typically played by four players in fixed partnerships, with partners facing each other, the game utilizes 32 cards from a standard 52-card deck. These cards are divided into the four traditional "French" suits: hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades. The ranking within each suit, from high to low, goes as follows: J-9-A-10-K-Q-8-7. The objective is to capture tricks that contain high-value cards.
The points for the cards are allocated as follows:
- Jacks: 3 points each
- Nines: 2 points each
- Aces: 1 point each
- Tens: 1 point each
- Other cards (K, Q, 8, 7): No points
This scoring system sums up to 28 points from the cards alone. Some versions of the game award an additional point for the last trick, bringing the total to 29 points, hence the game's name. However, many contemporary players do not count the point for the last trick, yet the game retains its name as 29.
In traditional setups, the Twos, Threes, Fours, and Fives, which are discarded from the full deck, serve as trump indicators. Each player receives a set of these cards, one of each suit. Additionally, the Sixes are employed for scoring, with each partnership using one red and one black Six.
