Capcom has canceled a session on Monster Hunter Wilds performance optimization at the upcoming CEDEC 2025 conference in Japan, due to growing concerns over harassment and threats directed at its development team.
According to Automaton, Capcom was scheduled to present at Japan's Computer Entertainment Developers Conference, focusing on technical optimization in Monster Hunter Wilds. The session would have examined CPU and GPU workloads, as well as memory management, from a developer's perspective.
No formal explanation was provided for the cancellation. However, speculation continues to link the decision to the intense backlash and harassment the team has endured since the game's launch, particularly regarding the PC version. The PC release has drawn significant criticism, prompting Capcom to commit to ongoing improvements and updates.
Following Title Update 2, developers hoped performance and stability issues would be resolved. While some players reported positive changes, results have been inconsistent. In response, Capcom issued a public statement on Twitter/X, acknowledging and addressing several critical bugs and technical problems.
Meanwhile, a separate statement released on Capcom’s official website highlights more severe concerns. As reported by Automaton, the company confirmed that staff have received targeted threats and abusive messages via social media and customer support channels. Capcom emphasized that it will pursue legal action in cases involving serious harassment against employees.
Although no official reason was stated for the cancellation, the timing and context strongly suggest that staff safety concerns were a key factor. Constructive feedback is always valuable, but extreme and threatening behavior harms progress and does not contribute to improving Monster Hunter Wilds.
As for the game itself, Title Update 2 has now been released, and players are enjoying the new hunts, particularly the battle against Lagiacrus.
