Bandai Namco to Shut Down PAC-MAN Mobile Game

Bandai Namco has made the surprising decision to shut down PAC-MAN Mobile, a poignant move considering this year marks the 45th anniversary of the legendary icon. This version of the game, which hit the market over a decade ago and was formerly known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered much more than just the classic arcade experience. It featured an 8-bit arcade mode alongside a rich Story Mode filled with unique mazes, an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events for exclusive skins, and a competitive Tournament Mode with weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels. Additionally, players could customize PAC-MAN, the ghosts, and even the joystick with a variety of skins.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. As of April 1st, in-app purchases have been discontinued. If you're still enjoying the game, you can continue to play until the final day on May 30th.

The community has voiced significant disappointment over Bandai Namco's decision to completely close down the game rather than offer an offline version. Many feel that an offline option would have been welcomed and could have continued to generate revenue for the company.

The Reason

The game has faced ongoing challenges in recent years, accumulating bugs and issues that likely contributed to the decision to shut it down. Despite these problems, the initial launch on Android sparked excitement as players competed for high scores and leaderboard positions, making it a memorable experience for many.

If you're keen on playing PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
