ROME: Total War fans on Android, get ready for an exciting update! Feral Interactive has just rolled out the Imperium Update, a massive free enhancement that brings a host of gameplay tweaks, control improvements, and quality-of-life features to this beloved strategy game. If you've been playing this classic since its 2018 Android debut, you're in for a treat with these significant upgrades. What's more, the standalone expansions Barbarian Invasion and Alexander will receive the same update next week.
What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?
The Imperium Update introduces some of the standout features from Feral's more recent mobile titles, such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE. One of the key enhancements is the addition of three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection. These modes significantly improve your command over units, allowing for more precise and strategic battles.
With the new Positioning Mode, you can fine-tune the placement of your units by simply tapping and holding. The Group Grid feature simplifies managing unit groups with a handy collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode adds flexibility by allowing ranged units to switch to close combat when the situation demands it.
Perhaps one of the most notable changes is the Command Slowdown feature, which automatically reduces the game speed when you're issuing complex orders, giving you more time to strategize. Additionally, for the first time, keyboard and mouse support has been added for Android and iPad players, enhancing the gaming experience.
The minimap has also received a facelift, inspired by the one in MEDIEVAL II. It now offers smoother zooming and navigation, along with a new reset button that quickly returns you to the default view.
The Imperium Update is now live and available for download via the Google Play Store for all ROME: Total War Android owners. Make sure to install it to enjoy these new features. Keep an eye out for the updates coming next week to Barbarian Invasion and Alexander, and don't miss out on those enhancements as well.
