This year marks the 20th anniversary of the iconic Yakuza / Like a Dragon series, and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is inviting fans to join in the celebration by voting on what official merchandise they want to see hit the shelves. From the conventional to the downright bizarre, there are 100 items up for grabs, with the top two vote-getters slated to become real products within the next two years. The voting process, currently listed in Japanese, is accessible through the official website.
Among the options, you'll find some standard fare like a 20th anniversary hoodie or a Yakuza-themed pencil case. However, the series is known for its eccentricity, so it's no surprise that some of the choices are pulled straight from the game's wild world. Fans can vote for items like the cult outfit from Yakuza 0, the giant traffic cone from Yakuza Kiwami, and even the "Puffy Gold Pants."
Other notable entries include the sake Majima sips in a shack in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's gold watch, the fountain pen Kiryu uses in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, Kashiwagi's tambourine from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prisoner uniform from Yakuza 4, among other unique items.
In addition to the merch excitement, fans have another reason to celebrate in 2025. The latest installment, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, is set to release on February 21. While RGG Studio made waves with the 10th anniversary release of the beloved prequel Yakuza 0, no similar announcements have been made for later in the year. However, with RGG Studio's history of rapid development, the possibility of another release in 2025 isn't out of the question. Over the last five years, they've managed to launch nine games, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and two Super Monkey Ball games, alongside an enhanced remaster of Virtua Fighter 5.
