Nonograms Katana: Sharpen Your Mind!

Nonograms, also known as Hanjie, Griddlers, Picross, Japanese Crosswords, Japanese Puzzles, Pic-a-Pix, "Paint by numbers," and other names, are picture logic puzzles where players color or leave blank cells in a grid according to numbers at the grid's edges to reveal hidden pictures. These numbers represent discrete tomography, indicating the count of unbroken lines of filled squares in any row or column. For example, a clue of "4 8 3" signifies sets of four, eight, and three filled squares, in that order, with at least one blank square between successive groups.

Solving a puzzle involves determining which cells to fill (called boxes) and which to leave empty (called spaces). Both decisions are crucial, as spaces help clarify where a clue's block of boxes can extend. Solvers often mark cells they believe are spaces with a dot or a cross.

Guessing is strongly discouraged. Only cells that can be logically deduced should be filled. A single incorrect guess can spread and ruin the entire solution.
