How to Play Durak – Basic Rules

• Deck: Choose between 36 or 52 cards.
• Goal: Be the first to get rid of all your cards.
• Dealing: Each player receives 6 cards at the start.
• Trump Card: The top card of the remaining deck determines the trump suit.
• First Move: Goes to the player with the lowest trump card—or the "Durak" (loser) from the previous round.
• Attack & Defense: The attacker plays a card; the defender must beat it with a higher card of the same suit or any trump. If unable to defend, they must take all cards on the table.
• Transfer Mode: Attackers can pass additional cards to the next player—who must either defend or transfer further.
• End of Round: The last player holding cards becomes the "Durak"—and loses the round.
