Little Bee

The Kiwanis Club of New Kingston (KCNK) is excited to bring the fun and educational Primary & Prep school spelling Bee competition to young learners through the KCNK Little Bee Game. This engaging app, proudly sponsored by Grace Kennedy Money Services (GKMS) and Western Union (WU), offers a unique way for children aged 4 to 9 to enhance their spelling skills with over 150 words spread across three distinct modes: Learning Mode 1, Learning Mode 2, and Competition Mode.

Designed to be accessible and enjoyable, the KCNK Little Bee Game can be played offline, making it perfect for learning on the go. Each of the three modes features 10 levels, with words increasing in difficulty as you progress. Every level includes at least 15 words, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.

In the Settings section, students can personalize their experience by entering their name, age, parish, and school. They can then choose their preferred mode:

Learning Mode 1:

In this mode, children learn to spell by tapping each letter of the word from left to right. The app audibly pronounces each letter, helping kids to learn by repetition. If a mistake is made, it can be easily corrected by tapping on the error. To hear the word again, simply tap the little bee icon at the top left of the screen. Students must spell each word correctly to advance to the next one and complete the level, with the option to redo any level at any time.

Learning Mode 2:

Here, students are presented with jumbled letters of each word and must rearrange them to spell the word correctly. Similar to Learning Mode 1, mistakes can be undone, and the word can be replayed by tapping the little bee icon. Correctly spelling all words in a level is required to move forward, and students can revisit any level as needed.

Competition Mode:

This mode challenges students with jumbled letters plus extra letters, testing their ability to find the correct spelling under time constraints. Students are timed on each of the 10 randomly selected words per level, with their times contributing to a total score. The aim is to complete levels as quickly as possible, with performances displayed on a leaderboard. Students can capture their leaderboard results to share with teachers or parents.

The KCNK Little Bee Game can be reset from the Settings page, allowing players to start anew whenever they wish. It's important for players to wait until a letter's pronunciation finishes before selecting the next one to ensure a smooth learning experience.
