Paramount Pictures has reshuffled its upcoming movie schedule, leading to significant delays for two of its highly anticipated Nickelodeon films: The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2. Both titles have been pushed back by several months from their original release dates.
According to Variety, the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, now officially titled The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, will no longer debut on January 30, 2026. Instead, the film is now set for a theatrical premiere on October 9, 2026. This marks a delay of nearly nine months for the project. It's also not the first time the film has been postponed—its prior scheduled release was October 10, 2025.
As part of the update, Paramount unveiled a brand-new official logo for the movie, offering fans a fresh glimpse into the production’s visual identity.
No specific reason has been given for the latest scheduling change, but the confirmed voice cast—including Steven Yeun, Dave Bautista, and Eric Nam—remains attached to the project.
Set many years after the events of the beloved animated series, this film centers on Aang’s continued journey as the Avatar. It was officially named during last month’s CinemaCon and is the first installment in what’s planned to be a trilogy exploring the Avatar universe.
In addition to this news, the sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem has also been delayed. Originally slated for an October 9, 2026 release, the film will now arrive much later—September 17, 2027. This means fans will have to wait almost a full additional year to see how the story continues following the cliffhanger mid-credits scene of the first movie.
Details about the plot and returning cast members remain under wraps for now. However, fans can still enjoy the spin-off series Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles while they wait.
