The Blood of Dawnwalker: A Dark Fantasy RPG Unveiled
Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, recently showcased their upcoming open-world dark fantasy action-RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, at a game reveal event. This narrative-driven game promises a unique experience.
Meet Coen, the Dawnwalker
Players embody Coen, an unconventional protagonist. He's a young, emotionally vulnerable, and honest individual navigating the fictional 14th-century European land of Vale Sangora. The reveal trailer depicts Coen's conflict with Brencis, an ancient vampire who has subjugated Vale Sangora. Coen's mission: save his family within a 30-day/night timeframe (though the game's time flow is non-linear). Coen possesses superhuman abilities, hinting at his vampiric nature, including enhanced agility and magical capabilities.
Dawnwalkers: More Than Meets the Eye
Dawnwalkers are unique beings, appearing human by day and transforming into vampires at night. However, they are not simply hybrids; they represent a distinct entity. The game's magic system is grounded in the occult, focusing on rituals, amulets, and summonings rather than flamboyant spellcasting.
A Narrative Sandbox
Despite Coen's central quest, The Blood of Dawnwalker offers a narrative sandbox experience. Players enjoy significant agency, influencing the story's progression through numerous choices and non-linear gameplay. This single-player experience will feature romanceable characters from diverse races, including uriashi and kobolds, potentially even werewolves. Multiplayer or co-op modes are absent to maintain the focused single-player narrative.
Release and Platforms
While a release date remains unannounced, The Blood of Dawnwalker is confirmed for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
