Hirabami are known to inhabit the Iceshard Cliffs, and their breakable parts include the head and tail. For the best chance of success, utilize fire-based elemental attacks. They are also susceptible to various status effects such as Poison, Sleep, Paralysis, Blastblight, Stun, and Exhaust, each with their effectiveness multipliers. Effective items to use in this battle include Pitfall Traps, Shock Traps, and Flash Pods.
Bring Large Dung Pods
Facing Hirabami can be daunting due to their preference for grouping up. To manage this, equip yourself with Large Dung Pods. These will help you disperse the monsters, allowing you to tackle them individually and make the fight more manageable.
Use Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger Ammo
Hirabami's tendency to float in the air can be a nuisance, especially for melee weapon users. To ground them, use Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo, which you can fire from your Slinger. If you're out of this ammo, aim to sever Hirabami's tail during combat. Doing so will drop a Tail Claw Shard, which you can convert into the needed ammo.
Utilize Environmental Traps
The Hirabami's arena in the Iceshard Cliffs is dotted with environmental traps like Ice Spikes, Floating Rubble, and Brittle Ice Pillars. Strategically using these to drop on Hirabami can stun and damage the monster, giving you a significant advantage.
Aim for the Head
The head is the most vulnerable part of Hirabami, though reaching it can be tricky due to their aerial habits. Ranged weapon users can target it more easily, while melee users should strike at the neck when the creature descends. Avoid attacking the torso as it's heavily armored.
Watch the Tail
Hirabami's unpredictable movements include biting, spitting, and dive-bombing from above. While dodging these, keep an eye on its tail, which it uses as a hammer. Staying mobile and vigilant will help you evade both its frontal assaults and tail smashes.

Screenshot by The Escapist
Capturing Hirabami in *Monster Hunter Wilds* requires you to reduce its health to 20% or less, indicated by a skull icon next to its symbol on the mini-map. Once at this critical state, set up a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap to immobilize the monster. Quickly follow up with a Tranquilizer to knock it out. Timing is crucial; failure to act swiftly will allow Hirabami to escape. Successfully capturing the monster will end the fight and grant you the usual rewards, though it might limit your chances of obtaining additional materials from breaking its weak spots.
That's all you need to know about defeating and capturing Hirabami in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Don't forget to bring Large Dung Pods or use the SOS feature to ease the battle. *Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
