MachineGames, the studio behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, has confirmed a heartwarming detail: players won't be able to harm dogs in the upcoming game. This decision marks a significant departure from the studio's previous work, known for its often violent depictions.
Indy's a Dog Lover
Creative Director Jens Andersson, in an interview with IGN, revealed the reasoning behind this choice. He stated, "Indiana Jones is a dog person." While the game retains the series' characteristic action and adventure, the developers have prioritized a family-friendly approach. This means that while Indy can engage in combat with human enemies, any canine encounters will be non-lethal. Dogs might appear as obstacles, but players will only be able to scare them away. Andersson explained, "It’s a family-friendly IP in many ways...We have dogs as enemies, but you don’t really hurt the dogs. You scare them away."
Adventure Awaits
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set for release on December 9th for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PlayStation 5 release tentatively scheduled for Spring 2025. The game is set in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, and follows Indy as he pursues stolen artifacts. His journey takes him across diverse locations, from the Vatican to Egyptian pyramids and even submerged temples.
Indy's trusty whip remains a key element, serving both as a traversal tool and a weapon against human foes. However, rest assured, dog lovers: no furry friends will suffer at the end of Indy's whip in this adventure. For further details on gameplay, be sure to check out our related article!
