If you're a fan of JRPGs, you're likely already familiar with publisher Kemco. Known for bringing various cult classics from Japan to global audiences, they consistently release fresh and engaging titles. Their latest offering, Alphadia III, arrives just in time for weekend gaming.

If the name sounds familiar, you might have already played Alphadia I and II. Alphadia III doesn't continue the story but instead serves as a prequel to the Energi War saga from the first two games. It follows an Energi clone named Alfonso on his quest for freedom.

Alphadia III retains the deep turn-based combat of the original games, featuring SP Skills that can shift battle outcomes and introducing new mechanics like Arrays and Energi Crocks. Additionally, players get their own ship, which can later be upgraded into a seaplane.

SP Skills are a common feature in many RPGs, including Dragon Quest, but here they add a fresh tactical layer. Meanwhile, the Energi Crock lets you convert magical items into Energi, and Arrays expand your strategic choices during combat.

While Alphadia III builds on the mechanics of its predecessors, some fans may wish it moved the timeline forward instead of backward. Still, it offers a new perspective on the Energi War that drives the series' narrative. With its appealing pixel art style, there's even more content to explore.
